 When is the Consulate open?                                                                                                                                                          

The Italian Consulate in Adelaide is open from Monday to Friday at different times depending on the type of service. Please respect your appointment time. To check our opening hours, click on the following link: Opening hours to the public

 I need a new passport. Is a booking required?                                                                                                                       

Booking an appointment allows more efficient services to users and is in any case required for a number of services (Passports, Visas, Citizenship, Notary Services). To book your appointment, click on the following link: Book Online 

 Can I pay with card?                                                                                                                                                                          

Only payments by cash or by debit card (EFTPOS). For debit card use there will be a fee of 0.25 AUD for each transaction. Users will still be able to use cash as an alternative method of payment. For current Consular fees, click on the following link: Consular service fees

 I need a laywer! Does the Consulate provide legal assistance?                                                                                       

The Consulate by law cannot provide legal assistance, therefore you will have to contact a professional. On this page you can find the list of lawyers of reference who have registered with the Consulate in Adelaide.

Does the Consulate provide translation Services, Australian Visa assistance, Italian ID cards and certificates of Italian Police  Clearance or Italian Criminal proceedings ?                                                                 

The Consulate is not authorised to provide these services. Please refer to useful links provided below:

– For translation services, please contact NAATI (accredited translators) www.naati.com.au.

The Consulate offers translations only for the Italian Driver’s licence. For further information, please refer to the following link:  Translation Italian Driver’s licence

– For information on Australian Visas, contact the Department of Home Affairs: www.homeaffairs.gov.au. Alternatively, please contact an immigration agent for assistance.

– For Italian ID documents other than Italian passports, the Consulate cannot issue Italian identity cards. Italian identity cards are issued by the Municipality of registration in Italy. Please note: for Australian residents Italian identity cards are only issued in paper format by the Municipality of registration in Italy.

– For Italian Police Clearance or Criminal proceedings certificates, please refer to the Italian Ministry of Justice website links:

I need a document proving my registration in AIRE. How can I get one?                                                                   

The Consulate is not authorised to provide these services as these come under the Municipality’s responsibility.(AIRE records are managed bu the Italian ‘Comune’).

PLEASE NOTE: the Ministry of the Interior has made available l’Anagrafe Nazionale della Popolazione Residente (ANPR) a digital online platform. You can request personal certificates directly online by following the instructions at the following link:

Currently, this service is only available in Italian.

Alternatively, the Consulate can issue a document proving your registration in the consular records with evidence of your residential address. Contact our offices for more info.
