Processing time, depending on the kind of visa, can take from 15 up to 120 days. Please be aware the waiting time to book an appointment at this Consulate is usually not less than one month.<\/p>\n<p>Once the application is completed and all documentation submitted, we will start to process the visa application and you will be contacted for collection. Follow-ups appointment are rarely required, as missing or additional documentation can be sent via email at <a href=\"mailto:adelaide.visti@esteri.it\">adelaide.visti@esteri.it<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>TYPES OF VISAS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Short-stay SCHENGEN VISAS \u201cTYPE C\u201d (1 to 90 days) <\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visas of this category allow holders to stay in Schengen area from 1 to 90 days for <strong>purposes<\/strong> of business, medical treatment, sport competition, invitation, work, mission, religious purposes, research, study, transit, transportation, tourism, voluntary service.<\/p>\n<p>As of May 2024, the <strong>29<\/strong> <strong>Countries<\/strong> part of the Schengen area are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland<\/p>\n<p>You must lodge the application for a Schengen visa at the Embassy \/ Consulate of the country that you intend to visit or, if you intend to visit more than one Schengen Country, the Embassy \/ Consulate of the country where you will spend the longest period.<\/p>\n<p>If you intend to visit several Schengen States and the stays will be of equal length, you must apply at the Embassy \/ Consulate of the country of first entry into the Schengen area.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the appointment, applicants are requested to complete the application and checklist, to ensure that all the documentation being presented on the date of appointment is correct and complete<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/e-applicationvisa.esteri.it\/?L=en-GB\">E-@pplication Schengen VISA<\/a> (it is advised to use Google Chrome)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/consadelaide.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/2024.12.04_Schengen-VISA-Checklist_2024.pdf\">Checklist for short-stay Schengen VISA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Long-stay NATIONAL VISAS \u201cTYPE D\u201d (91 to 365 days)<\/u><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visas of this category allow holders to stay in Italy from 91 to 365 days for <strong>purposes<\/strong> of adoption, diplomatic, <u>elective residency<\/u>, family reasons, investors, medical treatment, mission, re-entry, religious reasons, research, <u>study<\/u>, voluntary service, work, <u>working-holiday<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a short presentation of the most common national visas requested at this Consulate.<\/p>\n<p>Within 8 working days of arrival in Italy, the holder of the \u201cworking holiday visa\u201d must go to the local \u201cQuestura\u201d (Police Headquarters) competent for the place of residence in order to apply for the \u201cpermesso di soggiorno per vacanze lavoro\u201d (working holiday residence permit).<\/p>\n<div id=\"collapseExample2\" class=\"accordion\">\n<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h2 class=\"accordion-header \"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse1d\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse1d\"><u>Elective residency Visa<\/u><\/button><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"collapse1d\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"heading1d\">\n<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>The elective residency visa grants entrance to Italy to individuals who have a solid economic situation allowing them to live in Italy without the need to work.These individuals may include for example retired people and persons wishing to reside permanently in Italy and who can demonstrate a stable and adequate pension income and\/or financial resources, high self-sustaining incomes and financial assets.<\/p>\n<p>Money must come from substantial and steady economic resources, <strong>with guaranteed continuity in the future<\/strong>. Such resources may come from important incomes (pensions, annuities, etc.), ownership of real estate, ownership of steady economic activities, etc. <strong>except subordinate work<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The bearer of an Elective Residency visa IS NOT ALLOWED TO WORK within Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The Elective Residency Visa IS NOT an extended tourist visa. It is a visa for people who legitimately wish to live in Italy and can afford doing it without the need to work.<\/p>\n<p>Within 8 working days of arrival in Italy, the holder of the elective residency visa must go to the \u201cQuestura\u201d (Police Station) in the province where the applicant intends to reside in order to apply for the \u201cpermesso di soggiorno per residenza elettiva\u201d (elective residency permit).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h2 class=\"accordion-header \"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse2d\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse2d\"><br \/>\n<u>Working-holiday Visa:<\/u><\/button><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"collapse2d\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"heading2d\">\n<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>A working-holiday visa allows the bearer a maximum stay in Italy of twelve (12) months, as a tourist, during which time, temporary work activities are permitted, however these may not exceed a total of 6 months and not more than 3 months with the same employer.All applicants must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a citizen of Australia and be a resident of SA;<\/li>\n<li>be aged between 18 and 35 years;<\/li>\n<li>not include any minor dependents in the application;<\/li>\n<li>have not previously taken part in the Working Holiday scheme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Within 8 working days of arrival in Italy, the holder of the \u201cworking holiday visa\u201d must go to the local \u201cQuestura\u201d (Police Headquarters) competent for the place of residence in order to apply for the \u201cpermesso di soggiorno per vacanze lavoro\u201d (working holiday residence permit).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h2 class=\"accordion-header \"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse3d\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse3d\"><br \/>\n<u>Long-stay study Visa:<\/u><\/button><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"collapse3d\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"heading3d\">\n<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>A long-stay study visa allows entry in Italy for more than 90 days for reason of study, specialization, professional and educational training. Australian citizens <u>do not<\/u> require a visa if their study program in Italy is shorter than 90 days.<\/p>\n<p>Please note there are <u>several subcategories<\/u> of study visas.
