The registration is provided through appointment to be booked on the platform <a href=\"https:\/\/consadelaide.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/contatti\/informazioni-utili\/book-your-appointment\/\">Prenot@mi<\/a> \/citizenship.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What documents should I submit?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>birth registration application form<\/strong> will need to be filled in and signed by both parents of the applicant <a href=\"https:\/\/consadelaide.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/contatti\/informazioni-utili\/modulistica\/\">(for the form click here &#8211; STATO CIVILE\/CIVIL STATUS)<\/a>. If one of the parents is not an EU citizen, the form will need to be signed by a Justice of the Peace, alternatively the non-EU citizen can come in person (with a valid ID) and sign the form in front of a Consular Officer.<\/li>\n<li>The<strong> original copy of the birth certificate<\/strong> issued by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sa.gov.au\/topics\/family-and-community\/births-deaths-and-marriages\">&#8220;Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages&#8221;<\/a>. The certificate will be deposited at the Italian Consulate in Adelaide and will not be returned.<\/li>\n<li>The original copy of the birth certificate will need to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfat.gov.au\/about-us\/our-services\/apostilles-authentications-certificates-of-no-impediment-to-marriage\/Pages\/apostilles-authentications-and-certificates-of-no-impediment-to-marriage\"><strong>Apostilled<\/strong><\/a>. The Apostille will need to be applied to the original copy of the birth certificate. Apostilles don&#8217;t need translation, translation don&#8217;t need apostilles.<\/li>\n<li>The original copy of the birth certificate will need <strong>to be translated into Italian<\/strong> using <a href=\"https:\/\/consadelaide.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/modello_traduzione_nascita_australia_meridionale-4.docx\">the appropriate (digital) form<\/a>, and not necessarily done by an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naati.com.au\/\">official-NAATI translator<\/a>. Please note that if the translation is not correctly done, it will not be accepted and will need to be corrected until it is true to the original.<\/li>\n<li>A copy of both parents&#8217; valid ID with signatures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"25\" data-end=\"197\">According to the new Italian citizenship laws, it will also be necessary to present <strong>appropriate documentation<\/strong> to demonstrate that <strong>one of the following conditions applie<\/strong>s:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"199\" data-end=\"630\">\n<li data-start=\"199\" data-end=\"353\">\n<p data-start=\"201\" data-end=\"353\">A parent (including adoptive) or a grandparent has \u2013 or had at the time of death \u2013 <strong>exclusively<\/strong> Italian citizenship at the time of the applicant&#8217;s birth;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"354\" data-end=\"630\">\n<p data-start=\"356\" data-end=\"630\">A parent (including adoptive) who is a citizen has been a <strong>resident in Italy for at least two consecutive years<\/strong>, after acquiring Italian citizenship and before the birth or adoption of the child (historical residency certificate issued by the competent Italian municipality).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Consular office retains the right to request further documentation deemed necessary in order to process the application.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The registration of a birth certificate in the Comune&#8217;s records, when carried out by this Consulate, is free.
