To be entitled to an Italian pension, you must have paid contributions in Italy for the necessary periods and meet the age requirement.<\/p>\n
The Consulate provides information on the Italian retirement system, issues certificates that state that a person in still alive, prepares proxies to collect pensions and other documents which may be required by individuals who already receive an Italian pension.<\/p>\n
Italian welfare organizations called “Patronati” have been established in Adelaide to provide service and assistance to the beneficiaries of Italian pensions. These offices may be contacted for information on pension related mattes or to make a new application for an Italian pension. Their services are provided free of charge.<\/p>\n
The death of an Italian pensioner must be promptly declared to this Consulate by means of an original death certificate and all pension cheques received subsequently to the demise must be returned to the financial institution making the payment.<\/p>\n
This may be done either through the competent \u201cPatronato\u201d or the Consulate. The full death certificate, issued by the \u201cRegistry Of Births, Deaths and Marriages” must be submitted to the Consulate in any case. Please note that a certificate issued by a medical practitioner is NOT accepted.<\/p>\n
This Consulate is also responsible for matters relating to INPDAP pensions, formerly known as \u201cMinistero del Tesoro\u201d.
