The Arena Foundation of Verona in Adelaide with Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, in the iconic staging by Franco Zeffirelli

Described as the largest theatrical production ever staged in Australia, the acclaimed “Zeffirelli’s Aida” will make its international debut in Adelaide on February 5-6, 2026. Around 400 people, including orchestra members, choristers, dancers, and technicians from the Arena Foundation of Verona, will arrive in the South Australian capital with 28 containers in tow, to perform this legendary production in collaboration with 300 local artists, including the State Opera of South Australia (State Opera SA) choir.

The Orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Nicola Luisotti, and the cast will be as follows:
Thursday, February 5 – Jonas Kaufmann (Radamès), Angel Blue (Aida), Elīna Garanča (Amneris)
Friday, February 6 – Brian Jagde (Radamès), Maria José Siri (Aida), Agnieszka Rehlis (Amneris).

The project, made possible by the agreement between the American companies TEG Live and Condon Presents with the Arena Foundation of Verona, is supported by the Government of South Australia and the State Opera SA, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding in 2026.
