8 August, Day of the Sacrifice of Italian Labour in the World

Marcinelle

The 8 ofAugust marks the “National Day of Sacrifice of Italian Workers in the World,” which coincides with the commemoration of the mining disaster in Marcinelle, Belgium, where in 1956, 262 miners — including 136 Italians — lost their lives in the Bois du Cazier mine.
To honour this tragic event, the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has addressed a message to Italians abroad, the text of which is attached.
