MIGRATION MUSEUM OF ADELAIDE: “GIORNO DEL RICORDO” – UNVEILED THE COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE OF FAMIGLIA ISTRIANA

Sunday 14th February, at the Immigration Museum in Adelaide, the Associazioni Istriani of Adelaide commemorated “Il Giorno del Ricordo”. The ceremony in memory of the tragedy of the Istrians and all the victims of Foibe, was attended by Dr. Roberta Ronzitti, Consul of Italy, Vincent Tarzia MP, the curators of the Immigration Museum and various representatives of the Italian-Australian community and of the Famiglia Istriana of Adelaide. During the ceremony, a commemorative plaque dedicated to the victims of the tragedy was unveiled.In her address, the Consul quoted the words of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella:
“Our identity as Democratic and European Country couldn’t accept that important history pages were torn up, leaving our citizens of the ‘eastern border’ in a sort of moral abandon. Reestablishing the historical truth and nurturing memory are the result of a determined and precious work which the Giulian-Dalmatian exiled associations contribute to realize”.
