Starting from 15 November 2021, citizens registered in the Italian registry offices (both APR and AIRE), have the ability to request a variety of personal certificates online. The issuing of these certificates is free of charge and is only possible with, and conditional on having, a digital identity (CIE, Spid or CNS), since this method is now the only way in Italy to access the telematic services provided by the Public Administration.

The certificates that may be requested, for oneself or for family members living in the same household are:
· Birth certificate
· Marriage certificate
· Citizenship certificate
· Proof of Life
· Proof of Address in Italy
· Proof of AIRE Address
· Marital status/Civil status
· Family status
· Family and civil status
· Proof of Address (Cohabitation)
· Family status (AIRE)
· Family status (with relationships)
· No impediment to marriage
· Civil Union certificate
· Non-marital relationship contract
You will be able to download the certificates directly from the website indicated above, on your own behalf or on behalf of a family member, from your home and without needing to go into a government office. Certificates can also be issued in a combined form (for example, citizenship, proof of life and residency can be requested in a single certificate).
The portal is accessed with your digital identity (SPID, Electronic Identity Card, National Service Card); if the request is for a family member, the list of family members for whom a certificate can be requested will be shown. The service also allows you to preview the document to verify the data is correct, and to download it in PDF format or receive it by e-mail.
