THE FEAST OF SAINT PEREGRINE MARTYR

Yesterday, in presence of many devotees, the Feast of Saint Peregrine Martyr, the patron Saint of Altavilla Irpina, took place at the Annunciation Church in Hectorville.

In the morning, many devotees joined in the procession and the Solemn Mass celebrated by Father Michael Romeo and Father Jeevan Gabriel. In the afternoon, the official part of the Feast, was presented by Domenic Reppucci, President of the Altavilla Irpina Sports and Social Club.

Among those present at the Ceremony were the Consul of Italy Adriano Stendardo with his wife Clizia, the On. Vincent Tarzia MP with his wife Charissa, Peter Malinauskas MP, Leader of the Opposition, and many other representatives of the Local Government and the Italian Associations in South Australia.

During his speech, the Consul stressed the importance of rediscovering one’s roots, especially with regards for the young, and of continuing the work done by Clubs and the Associations passing by from generation to generation their predecessors’ regional and religious traditions.

At the end of his speech, the Consul thanked all the sponsors and all those who worked hard for the success of the event.
