BEST AUSTRALIAN RED WINE OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR SCARPANTONI ESTATE
The prestigious Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for the best Australian red wine was awarded this year to Scarpantoni Estate Wines of McLaren Vale for their Brothers Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2006.

Domenico Scarpantoni migrated to Australia from Abruzzo, Italy, in 1952 and started out with a small vineyard in 1958 with the help of your sons, Michael and Filippo, and his wife Paula.

The Italian Consulate takes great pride in the fact that Scarpantoni Estate has successfully "exported" to Australia the great Italian winemaking tradition and the Italian model of the small family business that ensures superior, personal quality control over each step of the production.

In  his letter of congratulations, Consul Tommaso Coniglio wrote: "I would also like convey the feelings of the entire Italian Community – and in particular of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and of Com.It.Es. (Committee for Italians abroad) – that is undoubtedly proud of and encouraged by your success"
