Do I need to register my same sex / de-facto relationship?

The registration of the all changes to civil status is mandatory and must be registered in Italy.

How much does it cost?

The registration of same sex / de-facto relationships in the Council’s records is free.

What documents should I submit?

• The registration form filled in and signed by the applicants (available in the ‘Forms’ section);

• The original copy of the same sex / de-facto certificate issued by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages with apostille from Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade;

• a photocopy of the certificate and apostille;

• a translation into Italian (not necessarily done by an official translator);

• a photocopy of the translation;

• photocopies of the passports of both parties

Do I need to make an appointment?

Currently by appointment.
